Learn moreYou must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in your proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.
Entry into this course may include an application process.
You will need a strong level of computer/digital literacy skills and be confident in navigating web browsers.
It is required that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
Your computer must have both webcam and voice capabilities such as headphones and microphone to participate in online classes. Due to the research and assessment requirements of this course, other personal devices such as phones and tablets are not suitable.
To complete some assessment requirements you will be required to source a minimum of 4 learners and record class delivery sessions that will be uploaded as assessment submissions.
Online virtual classroom program
If you are undertaking the Online virtual classroom program, you will enjoy the flexibility of choosing between three different class times, noting places in each group are limited. Attendance at all classes is an expectation of this study mode. Study and research time will vary depending on your existing skills and knowledge, however it is expected you will undertake an additional 15 to 20 hours per week of self-directed study, outside class times, in order to complete the course requirements.
Online self-directed program
If you are undertaking the Online self-directed program, you will enjoy the freedom and flexibility of choosing when and where you study. Attendance at tutorials is encouraged, but optional. You will be required to follow the Order of Study and enrol in no more than one group per intake, unless otherwise advised. Study and research time will vary depending on your existing skills and knowledge, however it is estimated that you will need to devote at least 12 to 15 hours per week to learning and assessment activities.
Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning. If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas may give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities.
