Course overview

Complete this apprenticeship qualification with TAFE Queensland to become a qualified wall and floor tiler. According the the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, wall and floor tilers are currently a skill in demand with employers finding it hard to fill vacancies. There's likely to be around 9,000 job openings in this occupation over the next five years with employers looking for people who are reliable, hardworking, and work well in a team.

In this course you will learn how to lay ceramic, clay, slate, marble, glass and other types of tiles on external and internal walls and floors. You'll use tiles to create protective and decorative finishes and learn how to use tile-cutting tools to cut and shape tiles needed for edges, corners, or around obstacles such as fittings and pipes. You may complete new installations or renovation work on interior or exterior surfaces of houses, shops, offices, factories as well as structures such as swimming pools and spas. Our industry-qualified teachers will ensure you can undertake tiling tasks in a safe and effective manner.

Successful completion of this qualification as part of an apprenticeship allows you to become a qualified wall and floor tiler and recognised tradesperson.
