Domestic students
You are responsible for meeting the minimum occupational health and safety requirements in practical classes.
This includes the use of:
- safety glasses
- protective footwear with safety toe cap and non-slip soles to AS2210
- leather gloves to AS2161
- hair protection
- disposable dust masks
- You should also wear 100% cotton drill industry-standard clothing.
If you fail to meet these minimum standards of dress, you will not be permitted entry into practical classes.
You will be provided with a recommended reading list and/or required textbooks during orientation or at the start of each unit. The purchase of these resources may incur additional costs, or you may be able to borrow them from the TAFE Queensland library network.
You are also required to have access to and bring personal stationery, a USB, a calculator, and tools/equipment including a folding metre ruler (carpenter) and a 5m tape measure.
International students
It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
All students must have the following items on their first day of class attendance (included in course fees at Ashmore campus):

- Hearing protection (AS1270)
- Protective clothing (shirt and pants)
Students failing to meet these minimum standards of dress will not be permitted entry in to practical classes.
The following materials are not included in the course fees at either campus.

- Nail bag, hammer and basic tools
- 8m tape
- Carpenters pencils
- Soft eraser
- Biro pens
- A4 notebook
- Calculator (square root function required)
