Begin your journey towards a rewarding career in artisan beverage production with this entry-level course.  You will delve into the artistry of beverage creation and gain the essential practical skills required to create craft sodas and Kombucha that go beyond the ordinary.

Queensland’s craft beverage industries have experienced rapid growth in recent times resulting in a need for skilled workers. 

You will learn how to craft your own sodas and Kombucha while developing a variety of entry-level skills including:

  • Crafting Artisanal Soft Drinks and Kombucha: Learn fermentation techniques as you craft artisanal sodas and probiotic-rich Kombucha.
  • Hands-On Skills: Gain practical experience in packaging processes ensuring your creations are ready for market, and
  • Understanding safety programs and procedures specific to beverage production

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Selection criteria

This is a TAFE at School course. To be eligible to enrol into this qualification you must be enrolled at high school please contact your School VET Coordinators or School Guidance Counsellor or Careers Officer for further information.
When your SET Plan is complete and you have been accepted into the course, an enrolment pack will be sent offering you a place.

Resources required

It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

You will be provided with a recommended reading list and/or required textbooks during orientation or at the start of each unit. The purchase of these resources may incur additional costs, or you may be able to borrow them from the TAFE Queensland library network.

You may also be required to purchase uniform items (including TAFE Queensland branded items, standard black clothing, and enclosed shoes). These details will also be provided during orientation.  You will also need the following personal protective equipment:

  • Work boots or wet area boots that cover the ankles, have steel cap protection and are liquid resistant
  • Long work pants

Important information

There are only 14 positions available in each course offering due to limited space available and work place health and safety requirements.

Assessment methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
