Getting started
If you're new to TAFE Queensland you probably have a few questions about how to get started. Check out the quick links below for all the essential information you need to know during your first few weeks at TAFE Queensland.
Your checklist
Orientation
Our orientation programs will give you all the essential information you need to have a successful study experience. You'll get information on our range of support services, get your student ID card, and learn how to access library resources. There are also course specific orientation sessions.
Mark your calendar: 14 days before your start of study date you can access a general orientation module for all students via Connect.
Mark your calendar: You can access Connect 14 days before your start of study date. Your study resources are available five (5) days before start of study.
Mark your calendar: You can request your student ID card 14 days before your start of study.
Timetables
The fun starts when you receive your full class timetable with details of when and where your individual classes will be held. Your faculty will be in touch to provide final timetable details as part of your orientation closer to start of study (may be subject to change). Some regions can lookup timetables online.
Get to know your campus
Get a head start on your campus information such as what services and facilities are on offer, your classroom locations, and how to get there using parking, cycling, and public transport options. Full time students may be eligible for discounted fares on public transport services, visit the TransLink website for more information.
Basic Key Skills Builder
The Basic Key Skills Builder (bksb) is an approved online skills review tool that determines your reading and numeracy levels within the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). It helps us identify any areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals.
Password and technical support
As a TAFE Queensland student, you have access to our computer network and a range of digital services including WiFi, Connect, Studiosity, Password Manager and more.
