Student Voice at TAFE Queensland

We are passionate about engaging collaboratively with TAFE Queensland’s diverse student body to help shape and inform the teaching and learning environment. To facilitate this, Student Voice at TAFE Queensland framework has been developed to provide opportunities for students and alumni to actively participate in decision making.

Becoming an active part of Student Voice is an exciting opportunity for you to expand your professional networks, develop personal and professional skills, and make a difference in your community. 

Student Voice is ideal for those who enjoy:

  • Promoting student engagement opportunities 
  • Participating in feedback through meetings, surveys, and pilot programs
  • Working collaboratively with staff to inform decisions and enact change.

The benefits of participating in Student Voice include:

  • Having your voice heard and contributing to change
  • Enhancing the student experience for peers and future students
  • Developing personal, professional, and employability skills
  • Building connections with staff, students and people of influence.

There are a number of different roles and responsibilities within Student Voice, see below for more information. 

*Peer Mentors Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ambassadors participate in the Yarning for Growth Peer Mentoring Program which connects First Nations students with mentors. Peer Mentors Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ambassadors provide First Nations students with advice, guidance, and support as they embark on their learning journey. People who sign up to be Peer Mentors Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ambassadors will complete the Yarning for Growth Peer Mentoring Unit before commencing in their role.

Internationally and nationally there are multiple definitions of the student voice and students as partners that include a wide range of roles, responsibilities and activities.
