The inaugural Métallon Jewellery Awards is the ultimate showcase of TAFE Queensland’s graduating apprentice jewellers. It’s their moment to shine as their exceptional talent and creativity take centre stage! With incredible awards and fantastic prizes on the line, the excitement is palpable.
This year, the stakes are higher than ever with fifteen (15) graduating students in the running to win the prestigious Apprentice Jeweller of the Year Award for 2024.
Our talented apprentices have pushed the boundaries of creativity, merging centuries-old craftsmanship with bold, contemporary vision to bring to life breathtaking pieces under the captivating theme of “Neo".
Their work evokes both timeless elegance and cutting-edge innovation—a true celebration of skill, and forward-thinking design. It’s an event not to be missed!

At TAFE Queensland you can learn about jewellery repair, stone and gem setting, metal casting, chain making, technical drawing, and more. You will also develop the ability to plan and interpret designs, use hand tools for precision work, and work safely with a wide range of materials.
Our teachers will share their industry expertise to ensure you develop the skills you need to succeed, and our hands-on environment will allow you to practice your skills and showcase your creativity.

Kick start your jewellery career with this entry-level course. Develop the skills and knowledge required to become a jeweller. With growing consumer demand for gold and silver jewellery, employment opportunities in this industry are increasing.
In this course you will learn about jewellery repair, stone and gem setting, metal casting, chain making, and technical drawing. You will also develop the ability to plan and interpret designs, use hand tools for precision work, and work safely with a wide range of materials.
Successful completion of this course will give you the skills and knowledge required to work as a jeweller or jewellery designer. You will also develop a solid foundation to continue onto further study.
Introduction to Jewellery (NONAC10009)
Non-accredited Short Course
Learn to craft gorgeous jewellery.
Do you have a creative streak and are you good with your hands? Try making some jewellery – it could even become a career! You’ll receive hands-on training in saw piercing, ring formation, silver soldering, chain making, and technical drawing.
Conducted in our fully-equipped, industry-style jewellery workshop, this one-week course is delivered by experienced teachers. You’ll have the opportunity to create a ring and a chain.
Jewellery and Silversmithing Introduction Workshop (NONAC10016)
Non-accredited Short Course
Learn the art of silversmithing with this introductory workshop.
This introductory course will teach you fundamental jewellery making techniques using the jeweller’s saw, the art of heat control and soldering, jewellery component, chain and ring making, along with the principles of forging and doming. You will be able to create a piece of finished wearable jewellery, or small set within the 4 weeks.

For the first time in its 18 year history, two apprentice jewellers will share TAFE Queensland's Jewellery Apprentice of the Year award after the pair took out the top honour at a recent, prestigious awards night.
Stefanie Cleeton, a jewellery apprentice with The French Door Jewellers, has taken out TAFE Queensland's top honour in the prestigious Apprentice Jeweller of the Year Awards for 2022.
