Beauty graduates illuminate national awards with salon success

One Gold Coast beauty salon is making waves by nurturing new talent from TAFE Queensland while being named a finalist across three categories in the Australian Beauty Industry Awards (ABIA).

Naomi Kokoszka and Tea Mirhola both graduated with a Diploma of Beauty Therapy (SHB50121 | 111236A) from TAFE Queensland and now make up the team of therapists at Face Solutions alongside owner Danielle Kinkade.

The Southport based salon was shortlisted for Queensland State Salon of the year, Team of the year and Best Customer Care; with Danielle affirming Naomi and Tea were instrumental in the salon’s success and pivotal in elevating Face Solutions to new heights.

“It's amazing what the three of us have achieved over the past 12 months. Naomi and Tea are extremely talented therapists that embody dedication and continuous learning,” said Danielle.

“I feel so honoured and proud of myself and the two girls for being recognised as a finalist in the ABIA awards as this an Australia wide competition,” she said.

Danielle couldn't be more pleased with her TAFE Queensland recruits with both therapists starting their first day with the professionalism and skills necessary to perform treatments and engage with clients effectively.

“Naomi and Tea quickly adapted to the Face Solutions approach and together we seamlessly incorporated their efficient skills and knowledge into the salon's offerings,” she said.

“They make clients feel welcome and comfortable, giving them confidence knowing they are in good hands for their beauty treatments.”

Having previously employed therapists from other registered training organisations, Danielle is convinced that TAFE Queensland offers top-tier training that aligns with industry standards.

“TAFE Queensland students have access to state-of-the-art facilities and high-end equipment at the Robina campus which makes them stand out in the competitive job market and empowers them to thrive in their beauty careers,” she said.

“Their delivery of the Diploma of Beauty Therapy has evolved to meet the demands of today's beauty industry, incorporating cutting-edge treatments alongside up-to-date knowledge about skincare, ingredients, and skin conditions.”

“This commitment to staying current with industry trends ensures that TAFE Queensland graduates are well-prepared to excel in their roles.”

For salon owners and employers looking to bolster their teams with fresh talent, Danielle strongly recommends hiring TAFE Queensland graduates.

“TAFE Queensland beauty graduates are eager to dive into the industry, quickly adapt to salon-specific practices, and bring valuable new skills and knowledge to the workplace. It's a win-win situation for both employers and graduates.”
