TAFE Queensland's Great Barrier Reef International Marine College is set to swell.
The Queensland Government has announced a $16 million investment to expand the world-class training facilities at the Great Barrier Reef International Marine College in Cairns.
The expansion will include a new workshop, additional classrooms, offices and staff facilities, and a new boat shed.

TAFE Queensland Director of Maritime Educational Delivery Phil Williams said the Great Barrier Reef International Marine College is a leader in the provision of maritime training.
"We provide high-quality, hands-on education for local and international clients," Mr Williams said.
"Our facilities are already equipped with state-of-the-art simulators including a full mission bridge, a navigation lab and a tug-optimised bridge."
"We offer sea survival training in our immersion pool and fire fighting and flood emergency training in our Multi-purpose Emergency Response Training Simulator."
"Expanding our facilities will allow us to offer even more training, providing the growing maritime industry with a pipeline of qualified workers," he said.
Construction to expand the Great Barrier Reef International Marine College is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2024 and be completed in mid-2025.
