TAFE Queensland Roma graduates celebrate

TAFE Queensland students, together with their families, friends and teachers, gathered at the Roma campus to mark the completion of their studies during a special ceremony recently.

From undertaking TAFE at School courses through to Certificate III level qualifications, the proud graduates are now equipped with in-demand skills for the construction, engineering, carpentry, health and hospitality industries.

TAFE Queensland General Manager of the South West Region, Jenni Butler, attended the event and believes it’s an important opportunity to celebrate with loved ones.

“Our Roma graduation ceremony showcased the commitment and achievement of our graduating students in the presence of their family and friends,” Mrs Butler said.

“It was wonderful to see such a large group of graduates this year — it was our biggest ceremony in more than a decade, with 34 graduates in attendance.”

“Our graduates are confident, capable, and have the hands-on skills employers need. On behalf of the TAFE Queensland team, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to each and every student, and wish them all the best with their future career and study endeavours.”

During the ceremony a number of graduates were recognised for demonstrating exemplary leadership skills, innovative solutions in their vocational projects, a commitment to teamwork, dedication to their studies and outstanding academic performance. The award recipients were: Leadership Award: Leah Moy (Pascoe) and Heidi Smith, Innovation Award: Thomas Anthony and Matthew Ellis, Team Player Award: Dominic Sheridan, Commitment to Studies Award: Shania Gilliland and Academic Excellence Award: Taeah Hiles.

TAFE Queensland’s Roma campus offers courses across a number of key industry areas such as health and individual support (ageing, home and community), agriculture, business, early childhood education and care, building and construction, engineering, hospitality and cookery, first aid, and health.

The campus includes fully-equipped health training facilities, a hospitality training kitchen and engineering and carpentry workshops for learning the tools of the trade.
