Wastewater leaders join forces with TAFE Queensland
Leaders in wastewater treatment systems, Taylex, have teamed up with TAFE Queensland to support the future of the industry in Queensland.
Leaders in wastewater treatment systems, Taylex, were the first company to manufacture Home Sewage Treatment systems in Australia and continue to be leaders in their field. Taylex’s ground-breaking Advanced Secondary Wastewater Treatment System is an innovative treatment system for household use, and is Australia’s most popular system.
Training the vast majority of Queensland’s apprentice plumbers – according to NCVER’s latest data – in the Certificate III in Plumbing (CPC32420), TAFE Queensland is an ideal partner for Taylex to assist the next generation of plumbers in understanding this important technology.
Given this, Taylex have begun providing training materials around wastewater to TAFE Queensland campuses for use in relevant drainage units within plumbing qualifications. So far four campuses around the Greater Brisbane area have received the resources, with the latest being TAFE Queensland’s Alexandra Hills campus, and Taylex says it plans to continue distribution to all relevant TAFE Queensland campuses across the state.

Taylex says it formed a valuable partnership with TAFE Queensland to advance the industry and provide comprehensive education to aspiring plumbers in the specialist area of wastewater.

Taylex General Manager Steve Tedmanson was on site to hand over the training materials and provide students a training session at TAFE Queensland Alexandra Hills and said it was a valuable exchange for all involved.

Business Manager of the TAFE Queensland Alexandra Hills campus Andrew Hocking was also at the training tool handover and said it was great to see an industry leader giving back to the training for local apprentices.
“At TAFE Queensland we are always partnering with members of industry to stay ahead of industry trends, and to have Taylex come to us and ask to support us in that way is fantastic,” Mr Hocking said.
“Watching Steve engage with the apprentices today and the interest they were showing was a clear indicator to me of how valuable and important this piece of equipment is for TAFE Queensland.”
“With these units now installed at the Alexandra Hills and Ashmore campuses and soon to be installed at the Eagle Farm and Acacia Ridge campuses we cover the Greater Brisbane area. It would be great to start getting these resources spread to our other regions across the state, which Taylex are looking to do already,” he said.
Plumbing teacher at TAFE Queensland Alexandra Hills James Duignan was a key part of the partnership between Taylex and TAFE Queensland, and was happy to help Taylex connect with apprentices and facilitate learning around this new technology.
