MEGT supports scholarships for next generation of job seekers

MEGT has taken a significant step forward by supporting the TAFE Queensland Scholarship Foundation.

MEGT is an Australian not-for-profit organisation that has supported employers, apprentices, trainees, and job seekers since 1982.

It provides apprenticeship and traineeship program management, high-quality, work-ready apprentice and trainee candidates, a tailored approach to apprentice and trainee recruitment and workforce planning, and ongoing mentoring and support.

MEGT  also offers flexible, low-risk labour solutions and expertise in sourcing, screening, and employing high-quality apprentices and trainees.

The organisation's focus is to create and support a skilled Australian workforce by providing candidates and their employers with the best individual solution that suits them.

MEGT has always been a strong supporter of quality education and training outcomes, to provide opportunities for all and to ensure a pipeline of skills for Australia’s existing and future workforce.

Everyone has the right to equality of training and employment opportunities, and MEGT is proud to have supported more than 1.5 million candidates and over 450,000 Australian businesses to create employment solutions that best suit them.

MEGT State Manager for Queensland Danielle Veivers said engaging in the TAFE Queensland Scholarship Foundation offered MEGT another opportunity to support those who most need it and  to help facilitate access to suitable employment outcomes.

"I started my career as an apprentice chef over 30 years ago and completed my trade training at TAFE on the Gold Coast. Unfortunately, my family weren’t very financially stable so I know first-hand how tough the first couple of years of an apprenticeship can be," Ms Veivers said.

"MEGT are proud to partner with the TAFE Queensland Scholarship Program - any support we can provide our future generation in the trades is critical."

Launched in 2015, the TAFE Queensland Scholarship Program has awarded over $3 million, helping more than 640 Queenslanders to pursue their career goals.

The TAFE Queensland Scholarship Program awards each recipient $5,000 to study any Certificate III through to an Advanced Diploma or Bachelor Degree at any of our over 60 campus locations or online. Scholarships help cover the costs of course fees, text books and living expenses.

There are two types of scholarships available, one being Merit Scholarships aimed at supporting people who have demonstrated strong levels of achievement to advance their careers. The second is Access and Equity Scholarships, which are designed to help students who are battling social or financial hardship.

TAFE Queensland Chief Executive Officer John Tucker said scholarships can be life-changing for students, providing them with the financial support and encouragement they need to build a better future for themselves and those around them.

"We are incredibly grateful for the support of sponsors like MEGT who generously donate to the TAFE Queensland Scholarship Foundation which funds our scholarships program," Mr Tucker said.
