Daniel helps shape the future of Community Services

TAFE Queensland Community Services teacher Daniel Kramer is bringing his passion for empowering individuals and fostering social change to students at our Caboolture Campus.

From certificate to diploma courses, Daniel equips students with the skills and knowledge they need to work with young people and families.

His journey into the social sector began in disability and mental health support, eventually leading him to the role of residential youth worker.

Wanting to make a broader impact, he pursued a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122), opening the door to becoming a teacher at TAFE Queensland.

“TAFE Queensland is part of the social fabric of our state with a rich history and a reputation for hands-on training that delivers quality education,” Daniel explained.

“Working with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds is the best part of this job, and I enjoy being part of a learning community where everyone has something to offer.”

Teaching the Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (CHC40321) and the Certificate IV and Diploma in Youth Work (CHC40421) sees Daniel helping students prepare to start a career in youth work.

Training both the Diploma in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (CHC50321) and Diploma in Community Services (CHC52021) sees him help students enhance their careers in case management.

Each course equips students with essential skills and strategies to support children and families, respond to various situations, work effectively with young people, and provide a safe environment.

As part of an experienced teaching team, Daniel supports students to gain the knowledge and industry insights needed to succeed in child protection or youth residential care.

His dedication to the community services industry stems from his admiration for students who aspire to make a difference.

“Our students care deeply about supporting society’s most vulnerable. Their commitment is inspiring, and I see myself as a multiplier, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to raise awareness and drive social cohesion,” he explained.

In addition to teaching, Daniel ensures that his students receive practical, hands-on training through industry placements, on-campus guest speakers, and community events.

He actively stays current in his field by networking with stakeholders at industry events and engaging in continuous learning.

When reflecting on memorable moments in his teaching career, Daniel recalls students who have overcome significant challenges to graduate and help others.

“I had one student who, despite experiencing homelessness, excelled academically and demonstrated remarkable resilience. Another, who initially struggled with confidence, thrived thanks to the hands-on practical training here and completed her qualification,” he explained.

Daniel also cites TAFE Queensland’s state-of-the-art facilities, dedicated support systems, and his passionate colleagues throughout the campus, who all work to ensure students maximise their potential.

“Studying is an opportunity to grow, meet like-minded people, and arm yourself with knowledge. It’s also a form of self-care in a complex world,” he said.

Known for his approachability and unwavering support, Daniel is always ready to assist our students.

His extensive community knowledge and experience allow him to add value to our students' learning, emphasising always being open to new opportunities and challenges.

“I believe in setting goals and working towards them. Life is about movement and growth, and I look forward to continuing to inspire and be inspired by my students,” concluded Daniel.
