By the TAFE Queensland Library Network
Ever wondered how the our library can help you while studying? From course guides to referencing, here are our top tips.
Whether you're a new student or returning after the break, the TAFE Queensland Library Network is here to help you on your study journey. Check out our tips on how to best use our collection and services to succeed.
Learn how the library can help you
Our Information for Students guide shows how you can best use the library to:
- borrow, search our catalogue, and read online
- reset your password
- access free on-campus WiFi
Check your course subject guide to find the best resources fast
These online guides contain direct links to useful books, eBooks, and databases chosen by our librarians. They may hold resources your teacher has recommended. They're particularly useful for popular courses like nursing (bachelor or diploma), ATP, Early Childhood Education, and Electrotechnology.
Get confident with referencing
You may be required to reference as part of your studies. The Referencing guide walks you through using the APA and Harvard styles to properly cite your sources and avoid plagiarism. It contains templates you can follow, and plenty of examples of what in-text citations and reference list entries for different formats e.g. webpages look like.
Understand your assignment
Our Assignment and Study Help guide gives general advice on researching, academic writing, and other essential skills like team work, presenting, note taking and time management.
Attend or watch a library virtual session
If you'd like a demonstration, our virtual library sessions cover research and referencing help, library tours and using digital resources like the ClinicalKey for Nursing and Australian Standards databases. If you've missed any live sessions, recordings are available here.
Get up to date with technology
To help you to understand some of the different technologies and systems you may use while at TAFE Queensland, take some time to review the Digital Capability guide which includes information on using Zoom, Adobe Products and Office 365.
