Nurunderi graduates celebrate success

On Wednesday 4 December 2024, the TAFE Queensland Nurunderi campus in Cherbourg was alive with excitement as students proudly wore their gowns and mortarboards to celebrate the completion of their studies during a special graduation ceremony.

TAFE Queensland Faculty Director, Personal Services, Business Technologies and Justice, Paula Hughes, welcomed the graduates, their teachers, family and friends to the event which was followed by a Welcome to Country performed by the Taring Wungan dancers from Murgon State School.

As the graduates crossed the stage to the applause of their proud support network they received their commemorative certificates and diplomas in various study areas.

A distinguished mention for Darrie Lea who graduated with a Diploma of Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Management (HLT50221), Anne-Maree Walsh with a dual Diploma of Business and Leadership and Management (BSB50120/BSB50420), and Kenneth Day a Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education (11214NAT).

TAFE Queensland Nurunderi Campus Coordinator, Tabitha Bleys, highlighted the importance of hosting a graduation ceremony, with the Nurunderi team looking forward to celebrating with the students each year.

“It is truly a joy to celebrate this occasion together, and not just our students’ academic achievements, but also their growth, resilience, and dedication in the presence of their family and friends,” Mrs Bleys said.

“Our graduates can look to the future knowing they are well-prepared for what comes next. With their confidence and skills, they can pursue further training or employment in their chosen fields.”

“We can’t wait to see where their skills will take them and on behalf of the TAFE Queensland team, we wish them all the best with the next stage of their journeys.”

TAFE Queensland General Manager of the South West Region, Kate Venables, also passed on her heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students.

“To our wonderful graduates, we are incredibly proud of you, and the hard work that you have put into your studies. This milestone marks the beginning of a journey filled with new opportunities,” said Mrs Venables.

“We are inspired by the potential each of you holds and can’t wait to see how you will harness your unique skills and knowledge to make a difference in your local community.”
