Course overview

Develop your skills in technical drawing and design with this advanced qualification. Become a draftsperson or technical officer and open the possibilities of further study and career advancement. Your technical and design skills will be in demand in a range of industries, such as building and construction, civil construction and engineering, where more specialised skills are needed.

According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, job prospects for civil engineering draftspersons and technicians are strong. The sector is expected to experience moderate future growth with around 3,000 job openings anticipated over the next five years. 

This course will assist you to develop skills in the creation of drawings and specifications for almost any purpose from engineering components to large structures. You will learn hand sketching and develop extensive skills in computer aided design (CAD) and 3D modelling. Choose from a variety of streams including engineering drawing, math and specialised CAD operations.

Successful completion of this course will give you the opportunity to become a practicing designer, draftsperson or technician. It will add to your skill set as a tradesperson or drawing office assistant to advance your engineering design career and put you on the path to further study.

A sound achievement in Year 10 English and Maths or equivalent is recommended and highly desirable.
