Course overview

Enhance your career as a solid plasterer with this hands-on course. This course provides the skills required to undertake a range of solid plastering tasks in the commercial or residential construction industry.

According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, the number of people working as plasterers is experiencing strong growth. This large occupation is expected to create around 19,000 jobs over the next five years with employers looking for people who are reliable, hardworking, and work well in a team.

This course covers core skills that are common across the construction industry as well units specific to solid plastering. Experienced professionals will show you how to apply plain, decorative, and protective coverings of plaster or cement to the interior and exterior of structures. You'll learn how to use solid plastering tools and equipment, install cast plaster and paper-faced cornice, apply trowelled texture coat finishes, and apply, float and render to straight and curved surfaces.

Successful completion of this course will give you the practical skills required to work as a solid plasterer or renderer. If completed as part of an apprenticeship, it will also allow you to apply for a trade outcome in solid plastering for residential and commercial construction work.
