Visual arts

Follow your passion and turn your creativity into a career in visual arts. Our courses will allow you to develop your artistic voice and enhance your command of creative techniques across a range of art forms.

Study visual arts

The creative arts industry plays an important role in Australia's economy. According to the Australian Government's MySkills service, it contributes over $10 billion to the our economy and employs nearly 100,000 people. The emergence of new technologies and wide range of job prospects available mean this is an exciting industry to be a part of. The visual arts industry specifically includes a range of creative areas including ceramics, digital design, jewellery design, painting, photography, printing, sculpting, and textiles.

At TAFE Queensland we have an extensive suite of visual arts facilities including ceramics workshops and kilns, printmaking equipment, drawing and photography studios, AV equipment, and hardware and digital labs that include 3D printing and motion-capture facilities. With electives in painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, digital media technology, photo-media, ceramics, millinery, and fashion accessories, our visual arts courses can prepare you for whatever area of the industry you're interested in.

Our partnerships with leading universities mean you will be credited for your time with us if you decide to upgrade your qualification too. Successful completion of our Diploma of Visual Arts (CUA51115) means you automatically qualify for a provisional place in the Bachelor of Creative Industries (Visual Arts)(ARB405) offered in partnership with the University of Canberra, and will receive up to one year of credit towards your degree.
