Our range of online Unilearn courses and Unilearn Ready Program get you the subject pre-requisites you need to meet university entrance requirements, provide an alternative pathway to a QTAC Selection Rank, and/or can also help you complete your Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).
You do not need a student visa if you are an off-shore student. You can complete your Unilearn studies in your home country.
Unilearn Ready Program
The Unilearn program is a great pathway for those who have been out of the education system for a while and want to build their skills and confidence. Completing three subjects in 30 weeks, this full-time program is delivered entirely online, allowing you to study at a time and place that suits you. You will need to complete the compulsory core subject Academic Literacy Skills and choose two of the following elective subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Introduction to Economics, Introduction to Mathematics, Senior Mathematics, Senior English and Physics.
Successful completion of this program will provide you with a QTAC Selection Rank for entry into the university degree of your choice. Students who need to build on already existing credits to complete their QCE can also earn a maximum of 11 QCE credits by completing this program.
Grade 10 equivalent units
UNL10 Building Literacy Skills is designed to help you develop effective literacy skills to an ACSF level 3 for further pathways of vocational study, employment or service (community, defence).
The purpose of this unit is to develop knowledge and skills relevant to reading, writing and spoken communication and their practical application in the different spheres of your life - personal, education, community and the workplace. As well, UNL10 enables you to work on your literacy skills targeting any gaps in your knowledge through the use of self-directed activities.
UNL10 requires a minimum of 55 hours to complete. The course is 100% online and self-paced. You are able to enrol at any time during the year and are able to complete the course in a timeframe that suits you within 12 months. An 11 week study plan is included in the unit outline.
Access to the course is through the TAFE Queensland Learning Management System - Connect and all materials are provided to you.
Pathways
UNL10 provides the assumed knowledge required to study UNL11 Academic Literacy Skills. UNL11 can be studied after UNL10 to provide a pathway to tertiary study.

This course will help you develop the numeracy skills, knowledge and problem solving capabilities needed to prepare you for studying UNL31 Introductory Mathematics, or for entry into vocational courses that require recognition of AQF level 3 numeracy.

This course has been designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge required to research and write assignments at the tertiary level.
UNL11 focuses on developing the written skills necessary to succeed in a university environment. This course includes academic writing skills including how to:
- recognise key ideas
- effectively summarise and note take
- organise and communicate ideas clearly
- research using databases and internet resources
- identify credible sources
- structure and write an academic essay at a tertiary level
- correctly reference your academic essay
This is an online self-directed course. We recommend a minimum of 180 hours of study, however the time required to complete the course is dependent on individual circumstances.
You are able to enrol at any time during the year and are able to complete the course in a time-frame that suits you of up to 12 months.
Select universities accept this course as an English prerequisite (please check with your chosen university before enrolling).
The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) has recognised that successful completion of this course can contribute 3 credits to a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) as a Recognised Study.

This English course is designed to help you improve your written and oral skills and become better equipped for further academic study at a tertiary level. It will also give you an appreciation for a wide variety of texts and help you develop a genuine enjoyment of literature.
In this course you will engage with a wide variety of texts from different cultures and eras, explore and experiment with language, and create texts in a wide variety of styles and contexts. You will learn how language use varies according to context, purpose, audience, content, modes, and mediums, and discover how to use it appropriately, effectively, and accurately for a variety of purposes. You will also develop higher-order thinking skills through the analysis, evaluation, and creation of a variety of literary and non-literary texts.

UNL21 Chemistry is a preparatory chemistry course designed to help students gain the necessary knowledge to undertake a tertiary degree in the sciences or health sector. You should always check that the course meets the pre-requisite requirements of their preferred university.
The course is open for continuous enrolment and completed entirely online. It is a self-paced course with a recommended minimum of 220 hours of study, time required is dependent on the individual circumstances. You have up to 12 months from your date of enrolment to complete the course.
This course is equivalent to year 11/12 chemistry in an Australian High School and covers: chemical bonding; stoichiometry; acids and bases; quantitative analysis; gas laws; oxidation and reduction; the periodic table; organic chemistry; rates of reaction; energy; and chemical equilibrium. Course content is provided online and most materials required for study are available in Connect, the learning management system. You may need to purchase some basic materials for the compulsory lab activities.

Pre-requisite knowledge

This course will give you the pre-requisite knowledge for study in an undergraduate program such as applied sciences, engineering, and mathematical sciences. The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) has recognised this course as being eligible to contribute 4 credits to a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) on successful completion. This course equivalent to Year 11/12 mathematics methods, (please check this with your chosen university before enrolling).
Throughout this course you will develop an understanding of functions and their graphs, coordinate geometry, trigonometry, periodic functions, statistics, probability, financial mathematics and, an introduction to differential and integral calculus (including applications), with an emphasis on modelling and problem solving.

This is an online self-directed course with an estimated time commitment of 220 hours. You are able to enrol at any time during the year. You are expected to purchase the textbook.
This course provides you with the pre-requisite biology knowledge to be able to enrol into an undergraduate degree at university. Please note that some universities instead use the term 'assumed knowledge'. This means that it is possible to enrol without the pre-requisite, but will assume you already have the required biology knowledge when the course begins.
Unilearn biology supports your pathway into science, health and education degrees. It is your responsibility to check with your preferred university that the course meets their pre-requisite requirements prior to enrolment.
Biology has a minimum of 20 hours of approved lab activities. These lab activities account towards your final grade and can be done either in your home, office or even your backyard if required. Lab activities are hosted through our online classroom.
The unit duration is 6 weeks and up to 12 months from the enrolment date.

UNL71 Physics is designed to prepare you to obtain the necessary knowledge to undertake a tertiary degree in sciences or STEM. The course is high level and assumes some prior knowledge of algebra based 'life sciences' likely undertaken in high school. You should always check that the course meets the pre-requisite requirements for your preferred university.
The course is open for continuous enrolment and is completed entirely online. It is a self-paced course with tutorial assistance from an experienced online physics teacher as required. We recommend a minimum of 220 hours of study, however the time required to complete the course is dependent on individual circumstances. The course time limit to complete is 12 months from the date of enrolment, however an extension may be applied for special circumstances.
This course is equivalent to Year 11/12 physics in an Australian high school and covers:
- Forces and motion
- Energy and momentum
- Thermal physics
