Rail

Get your career moving with our range of rail courses. Learn how to safely install, maintain, and inspect overhead poles, structures, conductors, cables, and rail traction wiring systems. Or you can get a range of licences for boom-type and dogging equipment. 

Train in rail

The rail industry has been one of Queensland's largest employers for over 150 years with Queensland Rail employing a number of new apprentices and trainees each year across a range of trades. TAFE Queensland offers courses in rail traction, distribution overhead, and transmission overhead. Our rail courses are perfect for new and existing workers, as well as those looking to gain training certification in the rail industry.

In our rail courses you can learn how to safely install, maintain, and inspect overhead poles, structures, conductors, cables, and rail traction wiring systems. Or you can get your licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform and learn how to safely perform dogging.

Rail courses

Rail Training Centre of Excellence

In partnership with Queensland Rail, our Rail Training Centre of Excellence positions TAFE Queensland as the premier provider of rail and rail related training in the state. The facility includes three training rooms, 200m of track, and signalling, maintenance and safety equipment. The Centre allows for rail-specific fields of expertise to be introduced and supports existing trade training requirements.
